What are your daycare requirements?

The safety and health of your pet is our first concern. Our The Dog Stop® Play/Stay contract includes a personality profile so we have basic information about your dog's temperament and match him with the right playmates. All boarding dogs that participate in daycare must demonstrate adequate social skills and the ability to play safely. On the first overnight stay at The Dog Stop®, we will evaluate your dog's interactions with other guests. If we find your dog isn't daycare friendly, he will instead receive personal playtime with our canine companions.

Prior to boarding and/or daycare, you must provide proof of the following vaccinations from your vet:

  • Bordetella - Up to date vaccinations
  • Parvovirus & Distemper - Up to date vaccinations
  • Rabies - Up to date vaccinations

We also require that your dog be on a regular flea and tick prevention program, such as Frontline or Advantage. (Flea Powders/Collars are not acceptable, with the exception of the Seresto Collar.) Dogs over 7 months must be spayed or neutered in order to participate in daycare.

This is my pup's first time to daycare. What could I expect?

  • A very tired dog for 24-36 hours.
  • An extremely thirsty dog. It's not uncommon for dogs to drink 2-3 times the normal amount of water when they get home from daycare. We do have plenty water out for the dogs at ALL times, but once they slow down at home, their body wants more water.
  • Some pups may drool more than usual, this is just temporary!
  • Some dogs may experience a temporary loss of appetite due to fatigue.
  • Dogs have a great time wrestling and slobbering on each other. Some medium-length to long-haired dogs may pick up some "dog play" odors. This can be corrected with a quick Homecoming Bath!
  • Dogs use their mouths for many things including the correction of another dog's behavior towards them, communication, and play. Please be aware that with mouthing, wrestling, and chasing that bumps, bruises, cuts, and punctures can occur. The Dog Stop® will make owners aware of any issues that occur at The Dog Stop® and will take appropriate action for any issue that may occur.
  • If you have an older or typically less-active dog, he or she may "overdo it" their first day and feel some soreness or fatigue in the days following daycare.
  • They will have an overwhelming desire to COME BACK!

What happens over the holidays?

The Dog Stop® is staffed to care for the dogs on all major holidays. The Dog Stop® hours of operation will be limited to half days, 6:30am to 1:00pm, the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve unless stated otherwise.

The Dog Stop® is closed for daycare on all major holidays (unless stated otherwise) including but not limited to: New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

When and what will my dog(s) be fed during daycare?

Unless there is a special need, daycare dogs are not fed during their play day at The Dog Stop®. It is recommended that dogs be fed their meals at home.

What happens if I cannot drop-off or pick-up my dog during The Dog Stop®'s business hours?

We will do our best to help you out. Whenever possible we will make special arrangements to meet our clients' needs, although additional costs may apply. Tardiness that is not arranged for in advance may be subject to a fee at the sole discretion of management.

What is your reservation/cancellation policy?

There is no required advance notice for daycare reservations or cancellation.

How do I make a boarding reservation?

To make a boarding reservation, complete our Boarding Reservation form online or call the location you wish to board at.

If your dog hasn't stayed with us before, you can fill out our New Client Form online. Please remember to bring your vaccination records when you drop off your pet to expedite
check-in.

During our busy summer and holiday periods, we recommend making your reservation weeks in
advance as we reach full occupancy on a regular basis.

When can I drop off/pick up my pet(s)?

May I leave toys or bedding with my dog?

You can, however there is a risk of soiling and we cannot make any guarantees that the items that you bring will be returned. Items must be clearly labeled and cannot have noisemakers in their construction.
